Ritchie said 'all Rod Evans does is write bloody words.' I said, 'well any idiot can write a guitar riff, you try and write some meaningful lyrics.' He wasn't very pleased.

That double album was the epitome of what we stood for in those days. It wasnt meant to be released outside of Japan. The Japanese said, Will you please make a live album. We said, We dont make live albums; we dont believe in them. They said, Please, Please make a live album. We finally said okay, but we said we wanted the right to the tapes because we didnt want the album to be released outside of Japan. That album only cost about $3,000 to make. It sounded pretty good, so we said to Warner Bros., Do you want this? They said, No live albums dont happen. They wound up putting it out anyway and it went platinum in about two weeks.

I just said Look Ill be available at the end of the month, but right now, since you havent written me, since you havent done anything The only person who came to see me, when Bolin debuted his own band at the Roxy in L.A. was Ian Paice, and we were probably the most distant. I still dont really know where I stand. Since I left the tour, they havent called me, they havent written me a letter, and somehow I feel like the management were using me, you know, because if you care about a person you do these things. I mean, whats it cost to send a telegram? Nothing compared to the money they have and they didnt even do that. And they knew. They knew what was going on, but people will be people, and theyre the kind of people.
